OMRON PLC FINS Controller Link EDI Driver

The FactoryLink OMRON PLC FINS Controller Link External Device Interface (EDI) Driver allows the user to configure bi directional communications between the FactoryLink Real Time Database and OMRON programmable controllers (PLCs) supporting the OMRON FINS commands over SYSMAC. These included the CV-Series programmable controllers, the C200H ALPHA programmable controllers as well as CS1-Series programmable controllers. Other C-Series programmable controllers can be accessed via a bridge programmable controller if the bridge and the C-Series controllers can be connected via a SYSMAC LINK network. Consult with OMRON for compatibility and network modules required.

The OMRON PLC FINS Controller Link EDI Driver reads and writes data to and from OMRON PLC(s) through OMRON Controller Link Support Boards on the system unit. The Controller Link Support Boards must be installed along with the OMRON FinsGateway product. The FinsGateway product contains the device drivers and DLLs that allows the OMRON PLC FINS Controller Link EDI Driver to use the support board. The FinsGateway product also contains the software required to configure the Controller Link Support boards such as loading the board network number and node number as well as download routing tables and starting/stopping the boards' device drivers. Please refer to all OMRON documentation pertaining to the FinsGateway and Controller Link Support Board for additional information.

Read and write operations can occur at timed intervals, upon triggered conditions, or upon operator or system event requests. Data is exchanged using the OMRON FINS command system, also know as the CV-mode command system, and protocol. Using the FINS command system, data can be exchanged between FactoryLink and controllers either on the local network on other OMRON networks connected via OMRON internetwork bridges. Controllers down to three network levels can be accessed. The OMRON PLC FINS Controller Link EDI Driver controls the communication interface through information designated by the user in multiple configuration tables accessed from the FactoryLink Configuration Manager utility.

The FactoryLink OMRON PLC FINS Controller Link EDI Driver is responsible for the following data transactions:

• Reading data from OMRON programmable controller(s) via single or block read requests.
• Writing data to OMRON programmable controller(s) via single value changing or triggered block write requests.
• Announcing any error that may occur for the above two transactions.

The FactoryLink OMRON PLC FINS Controller Link EDI Driver provides the following configuration tables:

• OMRON PLC FINS Controller Link Station ID These tables allow the user to specify communication parameters and device specific information per port. The user can configure up to 1,000 Station ID Table, each consisting of two data entry panels: OMRON PLC FINS Logical Station Control and OMRON PLC FINS Logical Station Information.
• OMRON PLC FINS Read/Write These tables allow the user to identify the following:
  
• FactoryLink Real-Time Database elements to be used as read and/or write triggers
• Whether or not exception writes are to occur and set table priorities
• FactoryLink Real Time Database elements to be used as table status indicators
• PLC register data to be transferred with tags in the FactoryLink Real Time Database.
