The Foxboro 76X Series External Device Interface (EDI) Driver allows the user
to configure bi-directional serial communications between the FactoryLink
Real Time Database and one or more Foxboro 76X Series controller using the Foxboro
76X Series binary protocol. The Foxboro 76X Series EDI Driver can run on the PC
system unit through the standard communication ports. Multiple device drivers may be
installed on the system unit to communicate with multiple networks.
The Foxboro 76X Series EDI Driver reads and writes data to and from the Foxboro
76X Series controller(s) through the system unit serial communication ports.
Read and write operations can occur at timed intervals, upon triggered
conditions, or upon operator or system event requests. The Foxboro 76X Series EDI
Driver controls the communication interface through information designated
by the user in multiple configuration tables accessed from the FactoryLink
Configuration Manager utility.
The FactoryLink Foxboro 76X Series EDI Driver is responsible for the following
data transactions:
Reading data from Foxboro 76X Series controller(s) via single or block read requests.
Writing data to Foxboro 76X Series controller(s) via single value changing or triggered
write requests.
Announcing any error that may occur for the above two transactions.
The FactoryLink Foxboro 76X Series EDI Driver provides the following configuration
tables:
Foxboro 76X Series Station ID -- Tables use to specify communication parameters
and device specific information per port. Each table consists of two data
entry panels: Foxboro 76X Series Logical Station Control and Foxboro 76X Series
Logical Station Information.
Foxboro 76X Series Parameter -- Tables use to identify the real-time database
elements that are to be used in the read and/or write of the controller operational
parameters.
Foxboro 76X Series Set -- Tables use to identify the real-time database
elements that are to be used in the write of the controller set parameters.
Foxboro 76X Series Poll -- Tables use to identify the real-time database
elements that are to be used in the read of the controller poll parameters.
