The American Innovision External Device Interface (EDI) Driver and Processing Task work in conjunction to receive data transmitted from the American Innovision Vision Inspection System and process the received data into reject and error information to be used by the FactoryLink application. The American Innovision EDI Driver allows the user to configure up to four vision inspection stations as serial communications inputs to the FactoryLink Real Time Database. The vision inspection system transmits data as errors are detected using a binary protocol. The data is read by the driver running the PC system unit through the standard communication ports and/or on the IBM Real Time Interface Co Processor (ARTIC) Card.
The driver pre-processes the received data, eliminating unneeded data and passing the wanted error information to the processing task. The processing task processes the received data further and updates accumulators to count the number of rejects and errors for different cameras and wells. The processing task also updates user defined tags to report on operator names, batch ID numbers, product names, expiration date and other text oriented data received from the vision system.
The American Innovision EDI Driver controls the communication interface through information designated by the user in multiple configuration tables accessed from the FactoryLink Configuration Manager utility. The processing task is also configured from the Configuration Manager. The application controls the processing task through the use of triggers. Both the driver and the task provide operational status and error information to the application.
