Analog Devices uMAC MCComm3 EDI Driver

The Analog Devices uMAC MCComm3 External Device Interface (EDI) Driver allows the user to configure bi directional serial communications between the FactoryLink Real Time Database and one or more Analog Devices uMAC-1050, uMAC-1060, and/or uMAC-6000, using the MCComm3 binary protocol.

The Analog Devices uMAC MCComm3 EDI Driver runs on the IBM RIC/ARTIC Real Time Interface Co Processor Card and works in conjunction with FactoryLink Support Software for the IBM RIC/ARTIC Co Processor to link Real Time Database elements to the EDI Drivers installed on the card(s). The IBM RIC/ARTIC Co Processor card comes in two port, four port, and eight port versions. There are also versions for AT bus and Micro Channel architectures. Factory Link supports up to four IBM RIC/ARTIC cards. Multiple Device Drivers may be installed on each RIC/ARTIC card to communicate with different types of equipment at the same time.

The Analog Devices uMAC MCComm3 EDI Driver reads and writes data to and from the uMAC(s) the communication ports on the IBM RIC/ARTIC Co Processor card(s). Read and write operations can occur at timed intervals, upon triggered conditions, or upon operator or system event requests.

The Analog Devices uMAC MCComm3 EDI Driver controls the uMAC communication interface through information designated by the user in multiple configuration tables that enable the system to read data from and write data to an uMAC. Data is exchanged between the RIC/ARTIC card and the uMAC(s) through the use of the Analog Devices MCComm3 binary protocol.

The FactoryLink Analog Devices uMAC MCComm3 EDI Driver is responsible for the following data transactions:

• Reading data from Analog Devices uMAC(s) via single or block read requests.
• Writing data to Analog Devices uMAC(s) via single value changing or triggered block write requests.
• Announcing any error that may occur for the above two transactions.

The FactoryLink Analog Devices uMAC MCComm3 EDI Driver offers three configuration table (CT) options:

• Analog Devices uMAC MCComm3 Station ID These tables allow the user to specify communication parameters and device specific information per port. The user can configure up to 1,000 Station ID Table, each consisting of two data entry panels.
• Analog Devices uMAC MCComm3 Read These tables allow the user to identify the following:
  • FactoryLink Real Time Database elements to be used as read triggers.
  • Analog Devices uMAC parameter data to be read and transferred to theFactoryLink Real Time Database.
• Analog Devices uMAC MCComm3 Write These tables allow the user to identify the following:
  • FactoryLink Real Time Database elements to be used as write and/or read triggers.
  • Whether or not exception writes are to occur.
  • Analog Devices data addresses to which data is to be transferred from the FactoryLink Real Time Database.
